Blog about Twitter
A twitter discussion is extremely different from a blackboard discussion and an in-class discussion. Twitter only allows 240 characters per tweet so it's very difficult to have in-depth conversations. You're forced to be concise and get your point across efficiently. On Blackboard, there is no character limit and you can write multiple paragraphs, comments and interact with classmates without any limits. On Twitter, you reply and tweet out general comments and vague ideas without having to think very much about it. On blackboard, you have a chance to think about your response throughly and organize your thoughts. In class discussions are also drastically different as well. In class, your professor may start a discussion and you usually respond with the first couple of thoughts that pop into your head. You're able to think about your ideas and elaborate but you usually have to think about it quickly because the topic changes and the class moves on to the next topic. I would say Blackboard has the most structured approach because there's no real time constraint and you can go express your ideas freely without having to limit yourself.
