New Media is a huge enabler for creativity. It allows anyone to create and design anything that comes to their head. With technology becoming so advanced, there are new outlets to express your creativity. User-generated content is one of the most popular forms of new media now a days and people are sharing their talents more than ever. As we mentioned in last weeks lesson, people have the ability to create complete virtual worlds from scratch. You can customize and design anything you can think of with such ease. There are very little obstacles preventing you from designing your own world, posting your own story to the world, sharing your art, music, etc. Instagram and Twitter are apps that allow for an immense amount of creativity. As mentioned in Disney Tolerates a Rap Parody of Its Critters. But Why? , users create mashups and edit videos of Disney movies that go along with popular music and it gets millions of views. Back in 2007, it was a pretty new concept but platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Youtube and Twitter have allowed users to make it extremely popular. Now, it's a lot easier to access and there are accounts with millions of followers dedicated to funny edited videos and memes that are user-generated. The amount of creativity is that goes into meme accounts and funny videos is directly related to the rise of new media. New Media has also created new forms of entertainment in which people release their creativity like podcasts, gaming and live streaming, youtube videos where people talk about their lives, art, music, etc.
