Advice
If I was hired by Baruch to use new media to improve the college, I'd want to revamp their social media and make it more fun, and engaging. The Baruch College instagram only posts about events and deadlines but it really doesn't have anything interesting on it. I would try to make it more desirable to follow. Right now, I know the instagram exists but I don't feel the need to follow it because it's boring and almost lifeless. Baruch has a lot of important and fun clubs and I think they're worth mentioning in their posts. I know many clubs have their own instagram pages but the official Baruch College page should showcase the wide variety of events, clubs and the community it has. I think it would be great if Baruch would interact with the student body and not just make informative posts. I think it would also be a good idea to share personal stories from students about the impact Baruch and the professors has had on them, maybe on a weekly basis. Things like this help a person build a connection to the school and then people don't see it as just a school but a community.
I agree, the Baruch social media pages in general seem very lifeless. Baruch is a school with so many students attending and with such high prestige in business, yet it only has around 6,000 followers. Compare this to NYU, which has over 175,000 followers, and we look terrible! Baruch definitely needs to put more effort into their social medias, especially since sites like Twitter and Instagram are major platforms that most students are apart of. It would also definitely help make the school feel more like a community.
